The heavy base gives it a solid feel on my counter. The brushed steel looks classy. The mirror itself is a nice size and rotates smoothly on its hinges. The on/off rotary switch is thin and requires two fingers to pinch and turn. I would rather have a rocker switch and can see that a rotary switch may be difficult for someone with arthritis. This is not my case, so it is fine. The light surrounding the mirror illuminates the viewing surface providing a clear view of the object being reflected. I find that it is not always necessary to use the light because the mirror alone provides a close, clear, view of the object. The 10x is extremely amplified and I only use it when tweezing. I was given this mirror as a gift because I'm extremely near-sighted and needed to practically sit on my counter and lean as close to the wall mirror in order to apply make-up (while applying makeup without my glasses). Now I am able to sit comfortably on a vanity seat, and without glasses, apply my makeup perfectly using this vanity mirror.
