I got this barrel to age rum. The barrel is very well made. The steel hoops are of sufficient gauge. The oak pieces are tightly fit. I filled it with water to properly cure it and it only dribbled a couple ounces of water and stopped within 1 hour. I left it filled with water for 3 days to be sure it had fully cured. I now have it filled with 90 proof rum and the wait begins. I'll sample it in 6 months from now which will be August 2013. Will report back on the flavor.
