All wood parts are precision milled, pressed together and nailed for maximum rigidity. Chair has extra heavy-duty, corrosion-resistant, zinc-plated steel braces. I've always had problems with folding chairs. Either they're too uncomfortable or I exceed the weight limit. Despite my larger frame, this chair is very comfortable and well-built. There are two major brands of quality director chairs - the Telescope and Gold Medal, both claiming to be the "original" chair. After much researching, I thought that the Telescope brand had better feedback from owners - but, honestly it was a tough decision between the two brands. It's built well - seriously sturdy. I've already ordered a custom printed replacement canvas set for it and it fit perfectly.
