Flowtron LE-800 Leaf-Eater Electric Leaf Shredder Review

The unit was easy to assemble. It is a bit on the noisy side, as other reviewers have mentioned. Also, it is sometimes hard to get stable on a slightly slanted yard. If you are serious about doing leaf shredding, then you'll want to set the machine on top of a tarp and move it around the tarp as the piles of shredded leaves mound up under the machine.

The biggest downfall is how fragile it is: This is a leaf shredder only. It cannot handle even the smallest twig or branch without jamming or breaking the shredding devices inside. This was a big problem for me since its very difficult to 'screen' out every little branch before loading rake-fulls of leaves into the hopper. I got tired of having to constantly shut it down, unclog it due to some unshredded twig, restarting it, and then re-loading all the unshredded leaves, trying to screen out any twigs on the way.

Because of this I have since stopped using it.

I've tried several different variations of memory foam mattress toppers and they each serve their own purpose. This is a nice, lightweight foam that unrolls and expands quickly and completely. Although you think the ends will remain crushed, there's plenty of elasticity in the blend of foam. Because of the lightweight density and only being two inches thick, it does not offer great support but does provide therapeutic softness if you're looking for a topper on a hard mattress. I personally wouldn't put in on top of a soft mattress since the result would be extreme squishiness. In general, these mattress toppers are a great value and add a lot of life to old mattresses as well as new ones that are still a little tough.

Overall, most memory foam toppers are a good value, but I would still recommend a three inch topper to truly get the benefits from memory foam.

Sturdy, fit and finish are excellent, and it's a robust walker for a 250 pound 70 year old. Folds instantly like a wheel chair to go narrow but to make it really compact requires removing and re-inserting a locking bolt for each wheel - which is way too inconvenient - so forget putting it in a suitcase. It is easy to maneuver in spite of the large footprint, as you stand between the fixed wheels at the back and the steering wheels can make a circle right around you. I do not sleep well, at all. I get maybe 2-3 hours of uninterrupted sleep a night. 5 TOPS but that's pretty rare. I don't have kids, not married, no pets. Just me. I do have persistent pain due to a hip issue, and I live next to a very busy street - so that plus some worrying keeps me up.

I wondered if this thing would help. Now, my bed was not cheap - I spent $1,700 a few years back buying a real nice mattress and box spring. I'm not that happy with it, only because I don't sleep well anyhow. It's a nice mattress - has a pillow-top thing attached and overall it feels nice. But I still don't sleep well. I wondered if this thing would help in any way. It kind of does!

This thing arrives rolled up real tight and packed in a tarp-like cover. You have to cut this off, without damaging the foam. I recommend using a scissors, but don't cut: If your scissors (or knife) are sharp enough, then pulling with one hand while gently pushing the blade along the cut will make the tarp/cover snap open bit by bit, without the risk of slicing the foam.

This thing is like a monster: I swear it's alive. Within a couple minutes it had expanded to it's full size. It even feels alive - or feels weird. It's tacky and it's like grabbing silly putty. But it's cool. Anyhow it expanded to full size which is just a tad longer than my queen mattress.

Now, this thing comes with a mattress cover / zipper bag that you have to put this thing into. The directions aren't the best so let me explain: BEFORE you open the mattress pad itself, open the small bag containing the zipper case. This cover/zipper case thing is like a giant zipper bag with a fitted sheet attached to it. You know the mattress cover you already have? Well, imagine a big zipper-bag all the way around it on top. When you get this thing - open this thing up FIRST and use the fitted-sheet-part and get that on your mattress. Open up the zipper-bag and THEN open the mattress topper on TOP of that. Once the mattress topper has expanded, you can easily flip over the top cover of the zipper bag and zip it up. I opened the pad first then had to shove/move it aside as I had to attach this thing first. Once your pad is in place, then you can cover it with your normal mattress pad and sheets, etc.

How does it feel? Great! I thought I'd sink in way too much - I mean it's only 2 inches. But it feels AWESOME. It coddles you but not TOO MUCH - you don't SINK deeply into it so much as sort of gently get caressed by this thing. It's nice. I like it because it supports me, and keeps me aligned when lying sideways with the pillow - I feel that my spine is straight.

Now, the big question you're asking: Did you sleep better? YES. I did. I managed to get a couple hours more rest in than I did the night before. I really do like this thing. I wish they made camping mattresses made of this - you know the kind? A foam core in a self-inflatable thing? Guys - if you're reading this - I get credit for that idea!!!

I'll update this review as time goes on, to see if this thing holds up. My main concern is that over time, the area where I normally sleep will become thinner and padded down. But for now - I think it's just great!

I LOVE this thing! I look forward to going to sleep every night, instead of dreading it. I absolutely feel the difference in my body. I have been sleeping better, sleeping more soundly, and don't ache as much lying in bed. I don't see how I can live without it. Going forward - I will always plan to have a memory foam topper on my bed - it's just that nice and works that well! It's been a couple months now and I have not noticed that this thing has lost any of its resiliency. If it does, you can be sure I'll note it here. But for now, I couldn't be happier. For something I had zero expectations for, it's just made me so happy!

So, it's been awhile and this thing is still going strong. I was expecting this thing to "shrink" or thin out in the area where I lie all the time, but it has not. It is still awesome. I wanted to add in this update a recent revelation: I was at a friend's house recently and stayed in a guest bed there. The mattress was quite firm and I was unable to sleep on my left side, as my shoulder has an old injury and it was incredibly painful and impossible to sleep on my left side. I missed my normal bed and I noticed when I got home, that as usual, I had no problems whatsoever sleeping on my left side! This mattress pad is EXCELLENT for anyone with bad joints like me. It allows the affected area to SINK in and still be cushioned, rather then PRESSED back up against you. I am a side sleeper, and this thing is great for that.

Happy New Year! Yes, I am still talking about this mattress topper thing. I wanted to let you know that I just purchased this for my parents: they're old and don't sleep well. My Mom said she uses towels and pillows to position her just right every night and that she doesn't sleep well. I never knew this. She's not elderly or overweight (she's tiny) but I thought I'd get this for her birthday. Hope Dad likes it too! As another reviewer suggested (see comments here), I flipped + rotated this topper. I haven't done anything with it since I put it on the bed. I am sad to say that this thing does not hold up well over time. The place where my butt hits the pad, it's all torn up. Not torn up, per se, but there were TONS of lines cutting through this pad. It's hard to explain - I should have taken a pic. But it looked gross - like if you had cracks in your skin or something. Ew. I flipped it over and the other side was fine - but just an FYI, for the money you spend on this, it sure doesn't last very long.
