I just received these stands, and you can tell immediately upon trying to lift the package that they mean business. The cast iron bases are seriously heavy and provide ample tipover resistance and (more importantly but less noticeable) sonic purity. Speakers on weak stands can exhibit a sort of recoil effect when playing bass where the force of the sound they're outputting is enough to make the stand beneath them sway. If that happens, the bass won't sound as punchy and the overall quality of the sound diminishes, so you want to find a stand that's sufficiently weighted at the bottom to hold the speaker in place even while it's playing thumping bass.

There are two other great features of these stands that I wasn't able to find on any other model from any vendor at even 4x the cost. One is that these stands are adjustable within a huge height range, which is important because the Dolby and THX speaker placement guides specify that rear speakers should be placed 2 to 3 FEET ABOVE ear level to create ambiance effects, NOT level with the ear as the front and center channels should be. These stands allow you to do that, but also have enough range in their adjustability to drop lower if you desire that, whereas most adjustable stands on the market only have maybe 10 inches of adjustment. And the second killer feature is that these stands support speakers up to 40 pounds! Every other adjustable stand I found on Amazon, Audioholics, and a few other places had maximum weights of only 15! The speakers I'm using weigh 12 pounds so those stands might have worked, but I didn't want to chance it in case the manufacturer was being generous with their weight ratings, i.e. "maximum" being defined as "it won't collapse, but it might start swaying a bit if you crank up the volume with a speaker that heavy." These give me plenty of headroom as well as futureproofing if I get larger bookshelf speakers in the future.

As for attaching the speakers to the stands, these come with adhesive discs to help with that, but I'd recommend purchasing a package of Blu-Tack Reusable Adhesive instead; a single package will last you at least 16 speakers. It will give you a much better seal, which is good for protection as well as sound quality. If you Google "Blu-Tack speakers" you'll find lots of success stories with this combination, including from people who used to use adhesive discs. Being able to run the speaker wire up through the stand is also a nice aesthetic perk.
