This is a good basic brain model and a fair price. These models are great for learning anatomy on, especially when covering such areas as the temporal corices and the folia of the cerebellum, areas that perplex grad and med students alike.

In my experience these models are fairly sturdy. I don't know how many times I've dropped a cerebellar hemisphere, on asphalt, linoleum, etc., and it has no scratches. This makes it great for a classroom environment where kids (primary school thru med school "kids" or students) are not always gentle with models.

Also, I'll add that if you are buying this as a gift for someone starting med school, studying in med school, or studying for med school, you might want to look at models with the skull and brain. Different med schools teach neuro differently, some with and some without the skull foramina requisite, but either way you're probably better off getting a comprehensive model - they'll appreciate having the skull model at some point in med school, even if not for strictly neuro purposes. (Although it's of course highly relevant for brain injuries!)
